PIERRE, S.D.–A Waubay woman has been sentenced to 27 months in prison on charges of Federal Program Theft.

Fifty three year-old Dawn Block will be on supervised release for three years following her prison term, and was ordered to pay more than $222,000 in restitution.

South Dakota Acting U.S. Attorney Dennis Holmes says Block embezzled, stole, or obtained by fraud the money while she was employed as an agent of the United Sioux Tribes of South Dakota Development Corporation.

Block was released following this week’s sentencing, but was ordered to self-report to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service on May 18th.
