Watertown’s Lakes of Willow Creek Development discussed by Mayor, City Council (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council held the first reading of an ordinance Monday night establishing a zoning designation for property located near the new $36 million Prairie Lakes Ice Arena that’s being built.

The land, if approved at a second reading, will be suitable for construction of single family homes and multi family residences.

Commercial development is expected there too. Most notably a new hotel has been mentioned, in what’ll be known as the Lakes of Willow Creek.

Once the land is annexed and given a zoning designation, the developer will have two years to build in the necessary infrastructure like streets, and water and sewer lines.

Also at last night’s meeting, two new sponsorship agreements for the ice arena were approved. The deals with Macksteel and Wurth Elektroniks are for five years each, and will give them advertising space on the center hung scoreboard at the arena.
