Watertown School Board, Watertown Education Association announce pay raises for 2022-23 school year

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown School Board and the Watertown Education Association have agreed to salary increases for certified and classified employees for the 2022-23 school year.

The salary increase will allow the district to remain compliant with the state’s average compensation requirement that was put in place in Fiscal Year 2017, as the increase to teachers averages six percent.

Certified employees, administrators and directors will receive a 3.18% increase, plus a $1,500 flat increase or prorated to their percent FTE.

The base salary for certified employees is scheduled to increase by 4.65%, bringing the base salary to $45,000.

Classified hourly employees will receive increases ranging from $1.80 to $2.00 per hour based on years of recognition.

The minimum base hourly wage was adjusted to $14.25, an increase of $1.40 from the previous year, or 10 percent.

Lake Area Technical College instructors, professional personnel and administration will all receive modifications at a rate of six percent to meet legislative expectations.

The premium level of the district’s group health and dental insurance will remain at the 2021-22 levels.
