Watertown gasoline prices receding from all-time highs

WATERTOWN, S.D.–South Dakotans are starting to see some slight relief at the gas pump.

AAA Auto Club reports the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.53 today. That’s 12 cents a gallon cheaper than a week ago, and 26 cents a gallon below the high water mark of $4.79 a gallon reached on June 16th.

Some Watertown stations have lowered their price to $4.35 a gallon–a drop of 33 cents a gallon in the past week.

But prices are still considerably higher than a year ago at this time, when gas was just above $3.00 a gallon.

Diesel prices have been slower to drop. In South Dakota, the statewide average is still $5.29 a gallon, down 11 cents a gallon from its high of $5.40 a gallon set on June 30th.
