Watertown Fire Rescue issues reminder about fire hydrants

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue issued a news release over the weekend reminding residents to clear snow from around fire hydrants in their neighborhood.
They’ve had several calls from people concerned after noticing hydrants that were buried in snow.
Keeping them shoveled out allows fire crews to access them more quickly in the event of a fire.
They say having clearer access to a fire hydrant can change the outcome of a structure fire dramatically.
