December 11, 2019

WATERTOWN, S.D.–A power outage in Watertown Tuesday night.

Watertown Fire Rescue was called just before 10:30 to a report of a transformer on fire in an alley near the 1200 block of 4th Avenue Southeast.

Crews arrived to find a transformer on top of a utility pole on fire. It was quickly extinguished and Municipal Utilities repairmen worked to get the power restored as quickly as they could.

Fire Rescue was on the scene for about an hour.

They remind everyone that when a power line or power pole is down, people to need to stay away and treat lines as being “live.”
