WATERTOWN, S.D.–The City of Watertown Forestry Department has contracted with a company called “Plan It Geo” to do a city tree inventory.

City Forester Jon Livermore says there will be two staff members going around and measuring and assessing trees throughout the city, which will include boulevards in residential areas, as well as commercial property.

This inventory will take approximately 3 months to complete.

South Dakota forestry officials have been keeping a close watch out for signs of the destructive emerald ash borer, which has been found already in areas of southeast South Dakota.
