Watertown city employees getting raises in 2024, two others adding new job titles (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council approved the 2024 city budget at their meeting Monday night.

One of the changes in 2024 involved titles of current city employees. Finance Officer Kristen Bobzien will assume the title of Watertown’s Chief Financial Officer.

Public Works Director Heath VonEye (pictured) is adding the title of Assistant City Manager.

It’s that latter change that concerned Mayor Ried Holien….

The mayor went on to discuss concern over the five percent cost-of-living adjustment all city employees will receive, and the three full-time employees the city will be adding next year….

The three new city positions next year are an additional firefighter, an I-T employee, and a Public Information Officer.
