WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council meeting tonight will include discussion on a letter of intent agreement to bring a North American Hockey League team to the city to play in a new ice arena that will be built.

The league is for post-high school players who are looking to earn a scholarship to play hockey at the collegiate level.

The city council will vote on whether to approve Indiana-based Volaire Aviation Consulting as Watertown’s new airport consultant at a cost of $132,000 for the next two years.

The council will hold the first reading of an ordinance regulating outdoor smoking shelters, and they’ll consider spending $7,500 for a company called Simpleview to provide a new visual identity brand and logo for the city of Watertown.

It’s also important to note what is NOT on tonight’s agenda. A proposed re-zoning for two large apartment buildings to be built at Lake Pelican was pulled from the agenda at the request of the applicant.
