WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council took a preliminary step Monday toward possibly reducing the license renewal fees for medical marijuana dispensaries in the city.
Watertown has three dispensaries, and each of them have to pay a $25,000 renewal fee annually to do business.
Attorney Mitch Koehn, representing Dakota Dispensaries, told the council at their work session that the fees are too high….

Councilman Kyle Peters made a motion for the council to consider a $5,000 renewal fee at their December 18th meeting…
The fees, if changed, would ONLY apply to renewal fees going forward for 2024 and beyond.
