WATERTOWN, S.D.–Where should a new Watertown City Hall be located?

It was one of the key questions asked of five candidates running for city council seats at a candidate forum held last night at the D.D. Miller Auditorium.

Kyle Peters is running for the council in Ward B. He says City Hall needs to stay downtown…

Former City Councilman Jason Redemske is running in Ward B again. He talked about the former Wells Fargo Bank building, which the city purchased with the intention of remodeling it into a new city hall. That was put on hold when the only remodeling bid came in way over budget…

Jason Buechler is running for a council seat in Ward E….

Ward E council candidate Lynn Jurrens thinks the City Auditorium site would be a good place for a new City Hall….

Ward B Councilman Colin Paulsen, who’s running for re-election, initially favord a site along Highway 20 for a new City Hall before changing his mind. He says the former Wells Fargo building is not a good option….

Councilman Dan Schutte is also on the June 20th ballot, but he is running unopposed in Ward C.
