WATERTOWN, S.D.–In November 2020, the Watertown City Council voted to purchase the Wells Fargo Bank building (pictured) on Maple Street downtown, with the intent of renovating it into a new City Hall.
This afternoon at a work session, the council will get an idea of what those renovation costs are.
City Manager Amanda Mack…
Mack hopes it’s somewhere in the range of $5 million, which includes the $1.3 million already spent to purchase the building…
What if the bids come in way over budget???
The bids will include an addition that would need to be built onto the bank building that would serve as the city council chambers.
If the renovation bids come within budget, Mack says a renovation contract could be awarded at a council meeting in early August.
