WATERTOWN, S.D.–A flood risk public open house is being held for Codington County residents today.

It’s being held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Bramble Park Zoo classroom at 800 10th Street Northwest in Watertown.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released new preliminary flood maps for Codington County, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps.

The new digital maps use updated data and science to show which areas throughout the county are at risk for flooding.

Today’s open house will give residents a chance to learn about flood insurance, learn your current flood risk, and understand how the newly updated maps may affect insurance and building requirements.
