UPDATE: North Dakota nursing home resident who dies of severe burns is identified

LAKOTA, N.D.–An 85-year-old resident of the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Lakota who died of severe burns has been identified as Keith Paulson.
Nelson County Sheriff Kurt Schwind says Paulson suffered burns last Friday when he attempted to put out a fire. Schwind says it appears Paulson went outside to smoke when the fire started. He attempted to put the fire out with his mobility scooter when the flames spread to a his pants.
Paulson died in the burn unit of a St. Paul hospital.
Schwind says an autopsy will be conducted by the pathology department at the University of North Dakota.
