SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—It looks like eastern South Dakota has dodged a bullet in terms of spring flooding this year.

It was a major concern a few months ago, but National Weather Service hydrologist Mike Gillispie says things have really taken a turn….

He says weather conditions for the last month and a half have been close to perfect….

Gillispie was asked about flooding concerns on the upper reaches of the Big Sioux River basin….

As for the James River basin….

Gillispie says there’s nothing in the long-term forecast that shows any sign of increasing the flood threat once again.
