South Dakota House OK’s Rep. Deutsch’s bill on gender-change treatment  (Audio)

PIERRE, S.D.–The South Dakota House passed a bill that would ban gender change treatments for children under the age of sixteen. The bill could charge doctors with a misdemeanor.

Bill Sponsor Representative Fred Deutsch of Florence (pictured) says he introduced the bill after hearing from young people….

Deutsch says there is no need for major medical intervention…..

Representative Linda Duba of Sioux Falls says the legislature should not be involved……

According to testimony, there are no transgender surgeries being performed on minors in South Dakota.

The bill passed on a vote of 46-23. It will next be heard in a Senate committee.
