South Dakota House Committee votes to delay impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg

March 3, 2021

PIERRE, S.D.–– The South Dakota House State Affairs committee this morning voted 13-0 to amend the impeachment of Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg.

The amendment halts impeachment proceedings until after a Hyde County criminal proceeding is finalized, at the earliest.

Ravnsborg is charged with three misdemeanor crimes for striking and killing  55 year-old Joseph Boever with his car in September 2020 on U.S. Highway 14 just outside Highmore.

Ravnsborg has resisted calls for his resignation, and this week, former Attorney General Marty Jackley announced he would be running for the job in 2022.
