Sisseton man arrested following pursuit in Brookings County

BROOKINGS, S.D.–A Sisseton man was arrested by authorities in Brookings County following a vehicle pursuit.

It started early Thursday morning, just after 3:30, when a deputy attempted to stop a Jeep Cherokee in Volga.

The vehicle fled and the officer began a pursuit, but eventually stopped the chase after the fleeing vehicle drove into a field.

Officers with the Brookings and SDSU Police Departments were called in to assit with surrounding the field and locating the driver.

With the aid of a drone and a utility terrain vehicle, authorities found the suspect, 35 year-old Zacariah Ryan, lying down in a water-filled ditch.

Ryan faces a long list of charges that include DUI, Reckless Driving and Eluding.
