Semi hauling turkeys crashes on Highway 212 west of Watertown

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a semi rollover on west Highway 212 just before 1:30 this morning.
When they arrived on scene, crews found a semi hauling turkeys had rolled onto its passenger side covering both lanes of traffic.
Fire crews cut the front windshield out to extricate the driver, who was taken to Prairie Lakes Healthcare System with minor injuries. He’s identified as 48 year-old David Werley of DeSmet.
Fire crews remained on the scene for about three hours providing assistance to Performance Towing as the wreckage was cleared.
Also providing assistance were the Codington County Sheriff’s Office, Watertown Police Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Codington County Emergency Management.
