School Resource Officer named for rural Codington County Schools

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Codington County Sheriff Brad Howell has announced Deputy Travis Gutzmer (pictured) will serve as the new School Rescource Officer for three rural school districts in the county–Waverly-South Shore, Florence, and Henry, beginning this fall.
Gutzmer has been in law enforcement for 16 years, including time as a school resource officer in the Watertown School District.
The three rural school districts along with Codington County will share the cost of funding this new position.
Sheriff Howell said, “we look forward to the positive influence and affect this program will have in our rural school districts, while capitalizing on the safety of our schools!”
