SATURDAY UPDATE: South Dakota’s COVID-19 count surpasses 200 cases; Codington County reports ninth case

PIERRE, S.D.–The South Dakota Department of Health reported 25 new cases of the COVID-19 virus in the state Saturday, raising the statewide total to 212.

New cases reported Saturday were in the counties of Brookings (one new case), Brown (two), Charles Mix (one), Codington (one), Lincoln (two), Minnehaha (thirteen), Roberts (one), Spink (one) and Yankton (three). 

The Health Department reports 19 South Dakotans have required hospitalization due to the virus. 

Sixty-nine people who’ve contracted COVID-19 have fully recovered and 5,012 people in the state have tested negative.

Minnehaha County has the most cases in the state with 81. Lincoln and Beadle counties each report 21 cases. Yankton County has 14 cases. There have been nine cases in Codington County.

Thirty-one counties are reporting at least one case. 

Four South Dakotans have died from the virus.
