WATERTOWN, S.D.–“Politics got in the way.” That’s how South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds describes the inability of Congress to get a new Farm Bill passed and signed into law…
Rounds tells KWAT News there are philosophical differences over what should be prioritized in the bill….
And that’s where talks stalled……
Rounds says with Election Year politics looming large in Washington, getting a new Farm Bill written and signed into law could take awhile….
Rounds says he has 15 amendments he’d like to see debated and attached to a new Farm Bill once negotiations resume. He says all of them deal with farming issues rather than nutritional topics.
