AGENCY VILLAGE, S.D.–A tribal school in Roberts County had to be closed last week after a staff member tested positive for illicit drugs.

The incident happened Monday at the Tiospa Zina Elementary School.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Craig Peterson said that the staff member arrived at the school under the influence.

Students and staff in the classroom were removed for the rest of the day.

The classrooms the staff member worked in, along with their workstation also tested positive for drugs.

Law enforcement was notified and as a result, the school was shut down on Tuesday to be deep cleaned and disinfected.
