WATERTOWN, S.D.–The “look” of Watertown’s new two sheet ice arena will be unveiled tonight.

The “Build It Now Committee” that’s been raising money to help cover construction costs of the arena is having a “reveal party” for invited guests to show off architectual designs, both inside and out, of the facility.

The arena will be built on Willow Creek Drive, north of Hobby Lobby.

A groundbreaking will occur this spring or summer., with a planned opening date in late 2023.

Sales tax revenue bonds of $20 million dollars will pay the majority of construction costs, with private donations and naming rights agreements covering anything above that amount.

The bonds will be paid off over a 30 year period–or perhaps sooner if sales tax collections allow for it.
