WATERTOWN, S.D.—No final decisions have been made yet, but an announcement will be coming very soon on what the start of the new school year will look like in Watertown.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen (pictured) gave an update at Monday’s school board meeting, saying three scenarios are still in play.

One is a return to all “in class” learning. The second option is how the last school year ended, with all online learning. The third option would be a hybrid of the two.

Danielsen spoke with KWAT News Director Mike Tanner about how they’ll also be getting feedback from parents…

Danielsen says their goal is clear….

Danielsen says at this point, he believes the majority of parents would support a return to “in class” learning…

Danielsen also announced that an “in person” graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 will be held later this month at the high school football field…

In the event of inclement weather, the event would be held at the Civic Arena.

Also on Monday night, Stephanie Lenards was elected president of the school board for the upcoming school year, and Scott Hardie was elected vice president.
