One dead, three injured in two vehicle crash on I-90 west of Murdo

MURDO, S.D. – One person died and three other people were injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash two miles west of Murdo.

Names of the four people involved are not being released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2017 Subaru Forester was westbound on Interstate 90 when it left the roadway, went across the median and into the eastbound lanes where it collided head-one with a 2018 Hyundai Accent.

The 26-year-old female driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. The 48-year-old female passenger received life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Rapid City hospital.

Both occupants of the Subaru – the 57-year-old female driver and the 64-year-old male passenger – received serious non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to the Pierre hospital.

Charges are pending against the driver of the Subaru. All four people involved were wearing seat belts.
