One dead, one injured in airplane crash near Pierre

PIERRE, S.D.–One person died and another was injured Monday afternoon when an airplane crashed northwest of Pierre.
The Hughes County Sheriff’s Office says the plane crashed near the Missouri River.
The wreckage was discovered just after 4:30, a mile north of Pierre, and a half-mile west of Highway 1804.
Two people were taken by ambulance to Avera St. Mary’s in Pierre.
The pilot is in stable condition.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital.
