WATERTOWN, S.D.–Bramble Park Zoo has seen visitation numbers drop this year.

A report labeled, “Bramble Park Zoo Status Report and Comparison” on the city website shows year-to-date attendance through October 17th at 47,749.

During the same period last year, attendance was 54,662, and in 2017 it was 58,595.

But the losses have not been seen financially. Revenue from admissions, rentals, concessions and gift shop sales this year is $339,822, which is about $11,000 higher than the same period in 2017 ($328,876).

A wet summer has meant a slow year for camping at City Park Campground in Watertown. Net revenue from camping through early October was $79,075. That’s down more than $40,000 compared to 2017 ($119,379).

City Park has been plagued by high water issues this year, leaving some campsites on both the north and south sides unusable.
