WILLMAR, Minn–A two vehicle collision 20 miles west of Willmar, Minnesota killed a member of the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team, and injured three of her teammates.

The State Patrol says the crash happened over the noon hour Sunday at the intersection of Highways 40 and 29 in Chippewa County.

The hockey players were eastbound on Highway 40 and collided with a minivan that was southbound at what is a four-way stop.

The four women in the SUV were all taken to the hospital in Montevideo. One of them, 19 year-old Jori Jones of Little Canada, MInnesota, did not survive. The other occupants all sustained non-critical injuries.

The minivan was driven by a 28 year-old woman from Benson, Minnesota. She also survived the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor, and all of the occupants of the two vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
