WATERTOWN, S.D.–Some new flood forecast numbers are in for the Watertown area.

The latest projections by the National Weather Service show Lake Kampeska rising to a level of 38.4 inches above full by tomorrow (Saturday), and to 50.4 inches above full by Monday.

By comparison, in 2019, the lake got to a level of 46.5 inches above full.

There is still ice on the lake, and that ice could damage structures. Lake residents are being asked to monitor water levels around them.

Watertown’s wastewater treatment facility is experiencing high flows. Residents are asked to make sure their sump pumps are NOT being discharged into the sanitary sewer system. Sump pump water should be pumped into your yard or another acceptable location.

Empty sandbags are available at the sheriff’s office. Sand is available at Sailboat Landing at Kampeska.
