WATERTOWN, S.D.—A deadly crash west of Watertown Thursday.

It left one person dead and two others with life-threatening injuries.

First responders were called to South Dakota Highway 20 between 167 and 168th Streets just before 5:30 p.m.

Watertown Fire Rescue used the “Jaws of Life” to extricate two of the victims from separate vehicles. One vehicle was in the ditch, and the other still on the highway.

Fire Rescue says two patients were transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital, with a third person suffering fatal injuries.

No names have been released. More details will be released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol later today.
