ALEXANDRIA, Minn.–An arrest has been made in the death of a former Watertown resident in western Minnesota late last year.

Alexandria, Minnesota Police Chief Scott Kent announced Monday the arrest of 78 year-old Angel Rua-Torres in the death of 60 year-old Desiree Louise Frederick.

He was taken into custody at his residence, which Kent says, “is the same residence where the crime was committed.”

On November 24, 2023, Alexandria police were called to a mobile home in the Viking Trailer Park where Frederick was found unresponsive on the floor of the kitchen.

Life saving measures were performed, but Frederick was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy showed Frederick died from a stab wound to her back.

Rua-Torres is charged with Second Degree Murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
