WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Fire Rescue was called to a fire early Friday morning in the McKinley trailer court. A mom and two children were able to escape and there were no injuries.

When fire crews arrived around 12:15 a.m., they saw flames coming out the front windows and thick black smoke coming from the windows in the rear of the home at 211 Carstens Drive.

They were able to limit the fire damage to the kitchen and living room, but the rest of the home has extensive smoke damage and the home is considered a total loss.

Firefighters were on the scene for an hour and a half.
