MITCHELL, S.D.–The Mitchell Walmart was evacuated on Friday afternoon after receiving a call claiming there was a bomb in the store.

A store employee notified police around 12:40 p.m. and the management began evacuating the store.

The Mitchell Police Department, Davison County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Mitchell Fire and EMS responded.

After searching the store, authorities discovered the call was a prank and are working to identify the source of the call, which they believe came from outside the Mitchell area.
