Man who drowned in Pactola Reservoir identified

RAPID CITY, S.D.–Authorities have identified the man who drowned at Pactola Reservoir Saturday as 20-year-old Weds Byssainthe.
He was an Airman 1st Class at Ellsworth Air Force Base according to a release from the base.
Authorities say Byssainthe fell off a stand-up kayak into the water and did not resurface. Friends who saw the incident went in to try and rescue him, but swift currents and the cold water hampered their efforts.
Byssainthe’s body was recovered a short time later.
