Man struck and killed by semi while fixing flat tire on I-29 north of Sisseton

SISSETON, S.D.–The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a man was killed Tuesday afternoon in an accident on Interstate 29, sixteen miles north of Sisseton in Roberts County.

The 78 year-old victim was parked on the shoulder of the interstate fixing a flat tire on his pickup.

An approaching semi was in the driving lane and was unable to move over to the passing lane due to another vehicle.

The semi struck the pickup and the victim, killing him.

The 55 year-old truck driver was not injured, but charges are pending.

Names of those involved have not been released.
