Lake County firefighter dies in the line of duty

MADISON, S.D.–A volunteer firefighter in Lake County died in the line of duty over the weekend.
Lake County Emergency Management Director Kody Keefer says it happened Saturday morning, when the firefighter suffered a medical emergency while on the scene of a hog containment structure fire.
CPR was started at the scene, and an on-site ambulance transported the firefighter to the Madison Hospital where they passed away.
The firefighter’s name was not released.
