WATERTOWN, S.D.–Four juveniles from Sisseton face charges following a pursuit in northeast South Dakota over the weekend.

Codington County Sheriff Brad Howell says it began a little before 9 o’clock Saturday night when a deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop.

The suspect vehicle fled, leading deputies on a chase through northern and western portions of the county, as well as southern Grant County.

The chase ended after the suspect vehicle went into the ditch and got stuck near the intersection of 455th Avenue and 151st Street, north of Watertown.

Howell says the vehicle was occupied by six juveniles. Inside the vehicle, authorities found four ski masks and other weapons, including a machete. Additionally, authorities found a black pellet gun that had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit (items pictured).

The 13 year-old driver is charged with Aggravated Eluding, Reckless Driving, and other traffic offenses.

Three passengers, who are 14 and 15  years of age, are charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The other two juveniles were released to their parents.

Howell says some of the juveniles have been tied to several recent burglaries at Watertown businesses.

Assisting in this incident were Watertown police, sheriff’s departments from Grant and Roberts counties, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
