WATERTOWN, S.D.–South Dakota is almost in the clear from the latest winter storm to impact the state several weeks into what should be spring type weather.

Winter Weather Advisories were still out for Marshall, Day and Roberts counties. They were due to expire at seven o’clock this morning.

Now attention will turn to cleaning up the snow, or perhaps, waiting until mother nature can take care of it. Slight melting is expected today with highs in the low 30’s, but the pace of the melt will quicken this weekend and into next week, when highs climb up into the 50’s.

Areas along and west of the James River Valley picked up another 8 to 12 inches of snow this week.

The South Dakota DOT was working to re-open Interstate 29 to travelers today. Its been closed from Watertown to the North Dakota line since Tuesday afternoon due to heavy drifting, poor visibility, and icy conditions.
