WATERTOWN, S.D.–The HVAC system at the Codington County Detention Center is getting an upgrade.
Sheriff Brad Howell says the inefficiency of the system was pretty evident during the recent hot stretch of weather, with outdoor heat index values getting into the low 100’s…..
Howell says if you don’t adequately heat or cool the jail, it’s bad for inmates and the correctional staff….
Howell says as temperatures in the jail rise, so do tempers….
The cost of the heating and cooling upgrades being done by Johnson Controls is just over four million dollars.
