Hundreds of Custer State Park bison to be auctioned off

CUSTER, S.D.–South Dakota Game Fish and Parks is prepared to auction a third of the bison rounded up at the recent Buffalo Roundup.
A herd of 1,500 bison were rounded up in last month’s event at Custer State Park.
Vaccinations and other check-ups will start next week.
Roughly 500 animals will be removed from the herd so that about 900 bison will winter at the state park.
This year’s Roundup was the largest in the 58-year history with nearly 23,000 visitors.
