HSGYM: Deuel’s Simon takes all-around, Estelline/Hendrick’s Sadie Johnson second at Region 1A Gymnastics Meet
BRITTON, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – Madison claimed the Region 1A crown Thursday night in high school gymnastics with a score of 138.250. Deuel followed behind in second place with a 137.450, Estelline/Hendricks third with a 134.425, the host Britton/Hecla fourth with a 131.875, Milbank placed fifth with a 131.350, Sisseton took sixth place with a 114.875, West Central rounded out the scores with a 110.325.
Top five individual finishes include:
Britton/Hecla
Sterling Mertens placed second on the vault (9.175)
Maggie Kilker placed fifth on the beam (8.725)
Deuel
Paige Simon placed first in the all-around (37.300), bars (9.425), floor (9.575) and second on the beam (9.150), third on the vault (9.150)
Hope Bjerke placed third in the all-around (34.650), bars (8.475), and fifth on the vault (8.950)
Hannah Cutshaw placed third on the beam (8.900), and fifth on the floor (8.975)
Estelline/Hendricks
Sadie Johnson placed first on the beam (9.375), second in the all-around (36.600, bars (8.850), floor (9.400), and fourth on the vault (8.975)
Sarena Schwarts placed fourth on the beam (8.800)
Milbank
Aubrey Fraasch placed fifth in the all-around (33.975).
The 2022 State Gymnastics Meet is February 11th and 12th.
