Holien: Watertown’s chances of landing junior hockey team looking “probable” (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–For months, we’ve been told by city officials in Watertown that landing a junior hockey team from the North American Hockey League (NAHL) to play in the new Prairie Lakes Ice Arena was a “possibility.”
But now….it appears the chances of that happening have improved substaintially.
Mayor Ried Holien….
The NAHL is for hockey players looking to land college scholarships and pursue a professional career.
Holien says the pursuit of a an ownership group for a Watertown team is underway….
Landing an expansion team in the NAHL is not cheap…
Holien says the city will begin vetting ownership applications for a Watertown team in the fall.
The Prairie Lakes Ice Arena will open this winter.
