MADISON, Minn.—A suspect has been arrested following a high-speed chase in western Minnesota.

Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff Allen Anderson says the incident began Sunday afternoon on a report of a suspicious man in Madison, Minnesota. The caller said the man appeared to be under the influence, and had broken a window at Faith Lutheran Church.

A short time later, police got a call of a stolen vehicle in that same area.

The vehicle was spotted by a Dawson police officer headed eastbound on Highway 212. The vehicle was stopped, but the driver took off again and a pursuit ensued at speeds of over 100 miles an hour.

Spike strips were deployed by Montevideo police and were successful in deflating two tires on the stolen vehicle.

The suspect vehicle came to a stop near the Fiesta Motel in Montevideo, and after a short foot chase, the suspect was arrested.

He’s charged with DUI and Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle. More charges will be added pending the completion of an investigation.

The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
