Groundbreaking held on new downtown Watertown park  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–It was a windy, chilly morning as dignitaries gathered in downtown Watertown for a ceremonial groundbreaking to mark the start of construction on a new downtown park.

Community Foundation Plaza as it will be known , will be located just south of County Fair Foods.

Speaking at this morning’s groundbreaking was Parks and Recreation Director Terry Kelly….

City Manager Amanda Mack…

Mayor Ried Holien had some reservations on this project when, at the time, he was a member of the city council. He’s since warmed up to the idea, and thinks it’ll be a fine addition to Watertown…

Gray Construction of Watertown will build the $2.5 million park, which is scheduled for completion this fall.
