Ground blizzard conditions reported in Watertown area

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Snow driven by west winds gusting over 50 miles per hour created blizzard conditions in Watertown Thursday morning.

A High Wind Warning was out for northeast South Dakota until 7 p.m. Thursday as west winds were expected to gust to near 60 miles per hour at times.

KWAT News spoke with Amy Parkin, a forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen….

Conditions are even worse in North Dakota, where a Blizzard Warning remains in effect for the western two-thirds of the state.

Snowfall amounts in North Dakota include 30 inches in the Minot area, 26 inches at Glenburn, and 23.5 inches at Dickinson.
