Former North Dakota Lieutenant Governor Rosemarie Myrdal passes away
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Rosemarie Myrdal, the second woman to serve as North Dakota’s lieutenant governor, has died. She was 94. Her family said Myrdal died Wednesday night in Grafton due to old age.
Myrdal, a Republican, served as lieutenant governor from 1992-2000 alongside Ed Schafer. He described her as honest, compassionate and a great political colleague.
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum called Myrdal “a champion for children, education and agriculture.”
Myrdal was a teacher and a mother of five, and also served in the state House of Representatives.
