FLORENCE, S.D.–The Florence School Board this week approved an expansion project at the school.

Superintendent Mitch Reed explains what programs they’ll be bringing in when a new building is constructed….

This new building will be right next to the existing school…

Reed tells KWAT News they were hoping to get this new building opened up by the fall of 2023, but it’ll happen a few months after that…

Reed says he’s happy to see the school district bring back its Family and Consumer Science program…

How much will this project cost, and where will the money come from???

Reed says the bottom line is they’ll be able to construct this new classroom building without raising taxes.

The Florence School District has about 310 students in Pre-K through 12th grade. That’s an increase of about forty students over the past five years.
