Fifty years later, investigation continues into disappearance of Aberdeen native

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–— Police are still searching for answers 50-years after a woman went missing in Sioux Falls.

Aberdeen native Ellabeth Mae Lodermeier was reported missing by her husband on March 6th, 1974. She was just 25-years-old.

The Sioux Falls Police Department hopes the 50-year anniversary of her disappearance will give the case more attention.

Police spokesperson Sam Clemens says her husband, Gene Lodermeier, is believed to have played a role in disappearance.

She was reportedly divorcing him for being abusive.

He passed away in 2013.

In 1992, a farmer found Ellabeth’s purse and pocketbook east of Sioux Falls, but the trail once again went cold, and in 2018, a $20,000 reward was offered for information leading to the recovery of her remains.
