WATERTOWN, S.D.—Watertown will be holding its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in late April.

Watertown’s Superintendent of Wastewater and Solid Waste, Mike Boerger (pictured), told the City Council Monday that this year’s event will be held from 8 a.m. until noon on April 25th at the solid waste treatment plant….

He talks about some of the items that will be collected that day….

The City Council approved an agreement with Veolia LLC, an environmental solutions company, to conduct the event.

Boerger says they average a little over 100 cars each year at the event, with a high of 161 cars in 2017.

On an unrelated topic, Boerger told the council Watertown learned recently that it has been approved for a $5 million, 20 year loan to help pay for a new administrative building for the Solid Waste Department…

The loan will carry an interest rate of 2.25 percent.
